Michael H. McDonald, born on February 12, 1952, is an influential American singer, songwriter, and keyboardist renowned for his distinctive, soulful voice. He first gained prominence as a backing vocalist for Steely Dan from 1975 to 1980, showcasing his unique vocal style. McDonald became the lead vocalist for the Doobie Brothers, where his contributions during their most successful years included classic hits like "What a Fool Believes," "Minute by Minute," and "Takin' It to the Streets." His dynamic presence helped shape the band鈥檚 sound and solidify their place in music history.

In 1982, Michael McDonald launched his solo career with the debut album If That鈥檚 What It Takes, which featured the hit single "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)."
