Lucinda Williams, born in 1953 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, grew up in a musically rich environment, influenced by her literary professor father and pianist mother. These early influences inspired her to learn guitar and sing, and by her early twenties, she was performing in bars and clubs around Houston.
