Ann Nesby Biography

Ann Nesby, born Lula Ann Bennett on July 24, 1955, is an American R&B, gospel, and dance music singer and actress. She gained prominence in the early 1990s as the lead singer of the group Sounds of Blackness, which achieved critical acclaim and commercial success. The group won multiple Grammy Awards during this period and produced several hit songs, including "The Pressure," "Soul Holiday," "Optimistic," and "I Believe."

In 1996, Nesby launched her solo career with the release of her debut album, I?? Here For You. This project marked the beginning of her dual career in music and acting. Soon after, she made her acting debut in Tyler Perry?? theatrical production I Know I??e Been Changed, successfully balancing her commitments to both careers.

Nesby continued to develop her music career throughout the years, releasing several additional albums: Love Is What We Need: The Essentials (2001), Put It on Paper (2002), Make Me Better (2003), In the Spirit (2006), This is Love (2007), and The Lula Lee Project (2009). In addition to her music, she appeared in the film The Fighting Temptations (2003), alongside artists such as Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyonc? Knowles, contributing to the movie?? soundtrack as well.
