Andrew Roane Dick, born December 21, 1965, in Charleston, South Carolina, is an American actor and comedian recognized for his work in television and film. He spent his formative years in Chicago, where he developed an interest in theater during high school, participating in numerous school plays. His comedic talents earned him popularity among peers, culminating in his election as homecoming king before graduating in 1983.
Following high school, Dick pursued improv comedy, joining the renowned Second City troupe, which laid the groundwork for his career in entertainment. In the early 1990s, he gained initial recognition through a role on The Ben Stiller Show, which marked his first regular television role. He subsequently appeared in guest spots on various television shows, including The Nanny, Get Smart, and NewsRadio, with the latter being a significant role that he held for four years.
A major turning point in Dick's career came with the launch of The Andy Dick Show on MTV in 2001. Although the show only ran for three seasons, it significantly boosted his visibility in the entertainment industry and helped cement his status as a recognizable figure. His film career includes performances in notable films such as Reality Bites (1994), The Cable Guy (1996), Best Men (1997), Inspector Gadget (1999), Road Trip (2000), Dude, Where's My Car? (2000), Zoolander (2001), Blonde Ambition (2007), and Funny People (2009). Additionally, he has lent his voice to numerous animated characters on shows such as Dilbert, Hey Arnold, and Frankenhole.
In recent years, Andy Dick has continued to perform, appearing in films like Workaholics (2016), The Lion Guard (2016), and Sense8 (2017). He also gained attention in 2013 as a contestant on the reality series Dancing with the Stars, where he and his partner, Sharna Burgess, finished seventh in the season's competition.
