Indigo Girls is an acclaimed American folk rock duo formed by Amy Ray and Emily Saliers, who have captivated audiences with their harmonious blend of socially conscious songwriting and rich melodies. The duo met as elementary school classmates in Decatur, Georgia, and began performing together in middle school. They officially adopted the name Indigo Girls while studying at Emory University, where they honed their craft and made plans for their debut album.

Their first album, Strange Fire, was released in 1987 and showcased their exceptional artistic vision, paving the way for their landmark contract with Epic Records.
