A Great Big World Biography
A Great Big World is an American musical duo hailing from New York, composed of songwriters Ian Axel and Chad King. The two artists first connected while studying at New York University's Steinhardt Music Program, where they collaborated on songwriting. Following their meeting, they formalized their partnership a few years later and began performing together.
The duo made a significant impact on the music scene in 2013 with their breakout single "Say Something," a poignant ballad exploring the complexities of troubled relationships. Before that, A Great Big World gained initial recognition with the track "This Is the New Year," which was released prior to their signing with Epic Records. The song garnered further attention when it was performed by the cast of Glee in an episode, and it also featured in other popular shows such as One Tree Hill and The Amazing Race. This exposure helped propel them into the mainstream.
