Black Eyed Peas Biography

The Black Eyed Peas are an American musical group formed in Los Angeles. The group's original members were will.i.am and apl.de.ap, who began performing together in 1988. They were later joined by Taboo, and the trio signed with Interscope Records to release their debut album, Behind the Front, in 1998. This was followed by Bridging the Gap in 2000.

The group's lineup changed with the addition of Fergie, who joined in 2002. With Fergie on board, the Black Eyed Peas released their breakthrough album, Elephunk, in 2003. The album's lead single, "Where Is the Love?", achieved significant commercial success, peaking at number one in several countries, including the UK.

The Black Eyed Peas continued to release successful albums, including Monkey Business in 2005, The E.N.D. in 2009, and The Beginning in 2010. These albums spawned several hit singles, such as "Boom Boom Pow", "I Gotta Feeling", and "The Time (Dirty Bit)". The group's music was well-received, earning them multiple Grammy Awards and nominations.

In 2011, the Black Eyed Peas announced that they would be going on indefinite hiatus to pursue other activities. During this time, the group members worked on solo projects. They briefly reunited in 2015 and later announced that Fergie would be leaving the group in 2018. J. Rey Soul joined the group as a touring member and featured artist on select tracks.

The Black Eyed Peas have since released new music, including the albums Masters of the Sun Vol. 1 in 2018, Translation in 2020, and Elevation in 2022. These albums have explored new sounds, including reggaeton and Latin influences. The group has sold an estimated 80 million records, making them one of the best-selling musical acts of all time.

The Black Eyed Peas have been recognized for their contributions to music, ranking 12th on Billboard's 2000s Decade-End Artist of the Decade Chart and 7th on the Hot 100 Artists of the Decade. They have also been named the second-best-selling artist or group for downloaded tracks.
