André Lauren Benjamin, born on May 27, 1975, in Atlanta, Georgia, is widely known by his stage name André 3000. He is an acclaimed American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, and flautist. As one half of the influential hip-hop duo OutKast, which he formed with Antwan "Big Boi" Patton in 1992 during their high school years, André 3000 has made a significant impact on the music industry and is frequently regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time.

OutKast garnered critical and commercial success with their six studio albums, each producing hit singles such as "Ms. Jackson," "Roses," "So Fresh, So Clean," and "Elevators (Me & You)." Their fifth album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, released in 2003, was particularly notable as it featured André's solo hit "Hey Ya!," which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy Award for Best Urban/Alternative Performance. Following the duo's split in 2007, André 3000 took a less active role in pursuing a solo career compared to Big Boi, yet he continued to make a significant impact through acclaimed guest appearances on tracks with various artists.

In 2023, Benjamin signed with Epic Records to release his debut studio album, New Blue Sun, an instrumental project that showcased his flute performances. He previously received two nominations with OutKast for their albums Stankonia (2000) and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (2004), the latter of which won the award.
