Lil Jon Biography
Lil’ Jon got his start producing remixes for artists such as Too Short and Total, and he worked for So So Def in the mid- to late-‘90s. Along with his group the East Side Boyz, Jon released two independent full-lengths, but it was their third, 2001’s “Put Your Hood Up” that garnered national attention with the single “Biatch Biatch”. In 2002, Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz released their breakthrough album “Kings of Crunk”, and the single ”Get Low” with the Ying Yang Twins became a breakout hit. “Kings of Crunk” reached the #15 spot on the U.S. album chart in September 2003, and eventually went double-Platinum. In 2004, Lil Jon produced two of the biggest hits of the year – “Goodies”, the debut single by R&B artist Ciara, and “Freek-A-Leek” by Petey Pablo, which reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Lil’ Jon’s 2004 album “Crunk Juice” hit #3 on the album charts, featured the hit single, “Lovers And Friends”, and also went double-Platinum.
Jon produced and appeared on "Yeah!", the first single from R&B vocalist Usher's fourth studio album “Confessions” (2004). The hit topped various charts around the world, including the Billboard Hot 100 for twelve weeks. In 2005, “Yeah!” was nominated at the 2005 Grammy Awards for “Record of the Year”, and won the “Best Rap Song Collaboration” award. The latest album from the East Side Boyz is scheduled to be released in September 2006.
