Cedric and Joel Hailey comprise the romantic R&B duo K-Ci & JoJo. By July 1996, K-Ci and JoJo hit I big, guest appearing on 2Pac’s number-one R&B hit "How Do U Want It" which also topped the Billboard Hot 100. The brothers made their side projects into a full album, Love Always. Released on June 17, 1997, the album spawned two top-ten R&B hits: "You Bring Me Up" and "Last Night's Letter". The minor success of those singles, however, paled in comparison to the success of the album's third single, "All My Life". Love Always went on to sell over four million copies. K-Ci & JoJo assembled a follow-up album, It's Real, which stuck closely to the sound of its predecessor. It was another Top Ten, platinum selling hit, and produced another smash single in "Tell Me It's Real," which topped out at number two on both the pop and R&B charts. The Haileys celebrated ten years in the recording industry with 2000's X, their third straight platinum album, which spun off the near-Top Ten pop hit "Crazy."
