After years of working behind the scenes as a co-writer of and background singer for songs with recording artists such as Usher, Christopher Williams, and Al B. Sure!, Case was signed to the Def Jam label in the mid-'90s, who issued his self-titled debut in 1996, followed by “Personal Conversation” in (1999) and “Open Letter” (2001). His first single, "Touch Me, Tease Me", sold over 1,000,000 copies.
