Zac Brown Band Biography

The Zac Brown Band is an acclaimed American country music group formed in 2002, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Led by Zac Brown, who began playing classical guitar at the age of seven and performed throughout his teenage years, the band quickly gained popularity. By 2004, they were already touring the United States, playing in a variety of clubs and festivals despite not yet being signed to a record label.

In the same year, the Zac Brown Band self-released their debut album, Far from Einstyne. Four years later, they signed with Live Nation Artists Records and released The Foundation, which propelled them into the spotlight. This was followed by two more successful albums, You Get What You Give (2010) and Uncaged (2012). These albums featured numerous hit singles, including “Chicken Fried,” “Toes,” “Colder Weather,” and “Keep Me in Mind.” Remarkably, with only four albums to their name, the band achieved nine number one singles on the country charts, with Uncaged being recognized by Billboard as the best country album of 2012.

Throughout their career, the Zac Brown Band has garnered an impressive fifty-five award nominations from organizations such as the Country Music Association, American Music Awards, Academy of Country Music, and the Grammys. Their nominations span a range of categories, including Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group and Best New Artist. In April 2013, they delivered a standout performance as the headlining act at the Stagecoach Festival, followed by three sold-out nights at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado the following month.

The band’s lineup includes a diverse group of talented musicians: Zac Brown (lead vocals, guitar), Jimmy De Martini (fiddle, vocals), John Driskell Hopkins (bass guitar, guitar, vocals), Coy Bowles (guitar, keyboards), Chris Fryar (drums), Clay Cook (guitar, keyboards, mandolin, vocals), Matt Mangano (bass guitar), Daniel de los Reyes (percussion), and Caroline Jones (guitar, keyboards, vocals). This collaboration of artists contributes to the band’s distinctive sound, characterized by rich harmonies and diverse instrumentation.

Over the years, the Zac Brown Band has released seven studio albums, three live albums, one greatest-hits album, and three extended plays. They have also achieved 16 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, with an impressive 13 reaching number one. Their first album, The Foundation, is certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, while following releases, You Get What You Give and Uncaged, are also certified platinum.

The band has collaborated with a myriad of artists, including Alan Jackson, Jimmy Buffett, Jason Mraz, and Brandi Carlile, further showcasing their versatility and appeal across genres.
