Aventura Biography

Aventura is a prominent bachata group formed in the mid-1990s by members Henry Santos, Anthony "Romeo" Santos, Lenny Santos, Max Santos, and Toby Love. The members, who were remarkably young at the time, developed a passion for the unique sound of bachata, which is derived from guitar-based Dominican folkloric music. While still in their teenage years, they began to craft a distinctive blend of bachata with hip hop, R&B, and urban influences.

The group's debut album, "Trampa de Amor", was released in 1995, but Aventura achieved significant recognition with their single "Obsession" in 2002. This track gained immense popularity, not only in the United States but also in Europe, where it reached number one in Italy. Their 2002 album, "We Broke the Rules", also performed well, topping charts in multiple countries, including Spain, Belgium, and France. Aventura's subsequent albums, "God’s Project" (2005) and "Kings of Bachata" (2006), continued to resonate with audiences, leading to several successful tours.

In 2007, Aventura performed to a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden and captured the performance on DVD, which achieved remarkable sales. The following year, they once again filled the venue, collaborating with stars Alejandro Fernandez and Marc Anthony, before embarking on a tour with Enrique Iglesias. Their final album before disbanding, "The Last", released in 2009, debuted at number one on the Latin charts and number five on the Billboard 200.

Although Aventura disbanded in 2011, they remain a critically acclaimed group with numerous accolades, including awards for Album of the Year and Song of the Year from Premio Lo Nuestro and the Billboard Awards. Romeo Santos and Henry Santos have enjoyed successful solo careers, while Lenny and Max Santos formed a new group called Vena with Steve Styles from Xtreme.

Aventura's influential presence in the music world is marked by five studio albums and numerous top 10 hits, including "Cuándo Volverás," "Un Beso," and "Dile al Amor." They have been nominated for prestigious awards such as the American Music Awards and the Latin Grammy Awards and are recognized as one of the most internationally acclaimed Latin groups of the last two decades while referring to themselves as the "Kings of Bachata."

In 2022 and 2023, Romeo Santos released his fifth studio album, "Formula, Vol. 3", and embarked on a successful tour, while Henry Santos released a series of singles. Lenny and Max also performed Aventura hits in smaller venues and produced their own music, with Max releasing albums and rap singles. Speculations of a reunion grew when hints of new Aventura material emerged, including a preview in Romeo's solo album.

On February 25, 2024, Romeo Santos teased a group announcement, and the following day, all members indicated their reunion through social media. They later announced their "Cerrando Ciclos" tour, considered their final tour, and released their first single since 2021, "Brindo Con Agua," on April 2, 2024. This song marks a significant return for the group, with Henry Santos taking on the lead vocal role. The single is part of his upcoming album, "2.0", set to be released on May 31, 2024.
